Never buy from dell, Why?

  • I bought Dell 2558 Studio and after a month it started giving problems.
  • Extremely bad service (long long phone calls – They are making money from phone calls)
  • Dell support wants you to sit in front of your computer for hours and hours to resolve the issue.
  • They log-in to your system remotely and provide you dogie solutions.
  • They collect the computer and tell you problem is resolved and after a week or 2 you will notice that problem is still there.

Issue 1 – reported to dell
I reported the issue to customer support “My laptop monitor goes black and then it tries to restore itself but screen never comes back, I had to reboot the laptop.

Solution provided by dell support.

From power options they change all settings to Never
Turn off monitor: Never
Turn off Hard disk: Never
System standby: Never

Issue 2

I reported an other problem intermittently I see JavaScript message which is coming from dell support application

Solution provided by dell support.
Remove all services and programs from start up other than dell.

They are not taking faulty system back and it’s a waste of £867.00 approx and they are not providing service up to standard. Just wasting time.

Spending hours with Support team over the phone they agreed to change the Mother board and Key board as Eject key were not working.

It’s worth to mention that I paid extra money for home based support. They agreed to send Engineer to fix the issues on Sat 22 May 2010. I was give case support number. Then I got a call that Engineer can not meet the Sat 22 May 2010 appointment. I agreed to move Engineer appointment on 29th May 2010.

25th May 2010, I got another issue with Dell Studio 1558, While I was using laptop,  suddenly laptop screen went black and it started making noise like when you try to start car in winter and it doesn’t start.

I reported this issue to Dell support team on 27th May 2010 and asked them to replace the computer or give me upgrade option. They said Noooooooooooooooooooooooo, there isn’t any option but we can fix the problems.

Today 27th May 2010 I received phone call that Dell hasn’t got a part so they want to move appointment some day next week.

Same day 27th May 2010 Received another call from Dell support that they will collect my computer to repair and make it sure that its working fully when its returned to me. They told me they can pick up computer between 900 am 1700 am.

It means you can not even use toilet just stay around the door. Dell  people can knock the door any time. Don’t know what gona happen next  if you miss the dell people.

Dell people collected system on 27th May 2009 and returned computer (laptop) to me that they have fixed the issue.

Today on 28 June 2010  I spent more than 40 minutes with dell technical support telling them that problem is not fixed and its still there. They wanted to run some more tests 🙂

Funny dell support (They collected system (laptop) to take it to their depot and fixed the issue. Today When i told them on the phone that issue has not been resolved they wanted to run a test on the system remotely)
I am not getting whats the point to do a remote test when you didn’t do tests while computer was at your depot.

Now I am told that engineer will come and fix the issue.
